Hi, my name is Kate. I’m a newly married Yankton native that found a love for an active and healthy lifestyle. I grew up taking dance classes and loved the exercise. After graduating high school, I attended USD to later find myself struggling to eat a balanced diet. I knew I needed to change something, I wasn’t healthy and I didn’t feel like myself.
In 2012, I was introduced (by my now husband, Matt) into road cycling. We set goals and followed a balanced meal plan. I lost 50 lbs that year! I felt great, better than ever which snowballed into continuing this lifestyle. I began feeling more comfortable with exercise everyday and attended bootcamps, spinning classes, zumba, etc at the USD Wellness Center. Eventually I was introduced to Beachbody programs and became very focused on fitness and nutrition.
I tried PiYo™ LIVE which is an upbeat, music-driven class for people wanting to incorporate the flexibility and balance of Yoga, the strength and power of Pilates, and the sweat level and calorie burn of a cardio class, all in one workout! This class is low impact and suitable for all levels. I loved how PiYo made me feel. I gained strength, flexibility, endurance, and defined my body using a “low impact workout.”
I strongly believe every challenge we go through, every little success along this journey is worth it all. I have encountered a few hiccups, just recently a spinal disc herniation and surgery to correct it. In short, I’m doing great and sometimes these little hiccups become mind resets and blessings in disguise. I feel better than ever and ever since I have adapted this lifestyle I would not trade my health for the world!
With a little motivation and accountability you can become the best you possible!
